Independent Help: Always Linked
Every page of this site, including this one, carries links to five independent gambling-help organisations: BeGambleAware, Gamble Aware, Gambling Therapy, G GamCare Gambling Support: Starts Here, and NCPG. They sit among the site-wide links that appear on each page, so you can reach them from wherever you are reading. They are the only outbound links on the site that are not commercial. Unlike the operator links, they carry no sponsored marking, they are set to nofollow, and they open in a separate tab on the organisations' own websites. This site receives nothing when you follow one of them.
The eighteen-and-over restriction is repeated throughout this site, including on the front page. Gambling content here is meant for adults only.
Site Limits: Stated Plainly
This site has no account, no form and no server-side application. Spending controls such as deposit caps, loss caps, reality checks, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion belong to an operator account. Nothing published here can switch one on, check one or enforce one. If you want any of them, you arrange them yourself inside your account at the destination.
Nobody's age is verified on this site, and no gambling takes place on it. Any check of that kind happens at the destination. No advertising or behavioural profiling network is present in these pages, so nothing here is targeted at a reader who has shown risky behaviour.
Practical Habits: Before Playing
These habits work because each one removes a decision you would otherwise make under pressure:
- Decide the amount before starting. A figure you choose while calm is more reliable than one you choose in the middle of a session.
- Treat that amount as already spent. If you expect nothing back, a loss does not feel like a debt you need to recover.
- Never chase a loss. Raising stakes to win money back usually makes the loss larger, and it turns play into an attempt at repair.
- Keep gambling away from borrowed money. Credit and loans add a repayment on top of the loss, and that repayment outlasts the session.
- Take breaks. Stepping away interrupts the momentum of repeated play and lets you notice how much time and money has actually gone.
Early Support: Involving Others
If gambling stops feeling like entertainment, tell someone you trust early, before the problem feels large. Another person can see patterns that are hard to notice from inside them. They can also help you keep to the limits you set. Warning signs include hiding how much you play, feeling restless when you cannot play, or using gambling to escape worry. Any of these is a good reason to open one of the independent help links listed above. Each one takes you directly to that organisation's own site.
